Bizy Dreaming x Montage 2009
You haven’t seen one of these headline’s in awhile, Bizy Dreaming x “you”, or Bizy Dreaming x anyone else for that matter. I gave you an heads up a while back, that I’d be featured in a school publication, a publication, nevertheless. Anyway, it has arrived!!! I didn’t get what I wanted to be published, but I got something worthy of credit, so I’m excited about that. Next year, we are going for something better. I have a 3/4 page on page 18 for digital photography, check me out! This year’s edition of Montage is surprisingly far better than last year’s copy because more artists decided to step up. I have a few extra copies left from the ones I gave out, send me an email and we can work something out. Very limited copies!

Happy Mother’s Day Mommy =)
Don’t you wish I was your son. [LOL] I’m just joking with that statement, but Happy Mother’s Day Mommy! She’s the best, even when she makes ANGRY >:O . I think she partially spoils me. If I didn’t have any reserve, she would try to get me anything I’d ask for, she’d do the same for my brother and sister as well, but I’d settle for less as long as I have her. Happy Mother’s Day Mommy! Enjoi your day!

Baby Spike
Baby Spike! Ford started calling me Baby Spike as semester began to wind down and started to catch on – Doug, Ryan, Hersch, and I think Nic’. I decided to run with it ’cause Spike is a prominent figure in our culture and I wouldn’t mind my work being praised for its credit. Not only is Spike influential, he’s from Fort Green, in Brooklyn, and owns his own production company. Like that would be a surprise. Like Spike, I would love to have Harris-Williams-owned or related businesses in the future.
Happy Madre’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all those beautiful mother’s out there, as Jamie said, “you still got it.” I don’t know how Mother’s day was spent in any other households, but mine was dedicated to my grammy – she’s a strong, God-fearing woman and I love her so much. On Mother’s day, my mommy kind of put everything in retrospect, that even though my grammy faces so much adversity, she knows how to call upon the Lord for help. I can honestly say she was always religious. But what can you expect from a “old school” Jamaican. Even though I’m not as religious as I should be, I remember the first gospel song my grammy taught me, well us (my brother, sister, and cousins, as well), Can’t Even Walk. She deserves all that she was given on Mother’s Day, family, edible arrangements, roses, and ballons. Happy Mother’s Day! Enjoi your day ladies.

Jack Johnson
I’ve recently become a fan of Jack Johnson and acoustic musiq, it’s different, however, very relaxing. It brings me where I need to be when I just want to wind down and kick it. On this particular album, my favorite song is Monsoon.
P.S.
I’ve always loved the overall design of this album.
Surreal: Concep
I’ve been trying NOT to write an article about this picture, for no particular reason, but I’m going to anyway. If you don’t know, I made a post on this artist on my old blog, and ultimately it inspired me to get back into drawing. As a result of the painting, I took a studio art class the following semester.
Long story short, this is my favorite painting. I have the jpg saved to my computer background, as well as my cell phone background. I always enjoy looking at this painting! I’d buy it! Imagine walking into my studio and you see this hanging on one of the walls. Imagine. Anyway, I call visual tranquility. Concep pleases my aesthetic in this painting; he uses a lot of cool vivid colors and some high color-contrasting. Cool!
Check out the old blog article on Concep here.

Wake The Giant
This week and weekend was a little hectic; I didn’t get what I need accomplished along with other miscellaneous things. However, I hiked Sleeping Giant, embedded the design on Musiq’s Myspace Music page, helped setup the stage for the Spring concert(article coming soon), met a friend, and chilled with the homies. Sounds good! This week, I was a little more “Earthy,” I hiked the mountain, and played on the field all day; I have this slight phobia of standing on grass, anything other than concrete cement for that matter. Anyway, I enjoyed the weather and good company.

SXSW: Music x Film x Interactive

A couple days ago, I came across a documentary on IFC (Independent Film Channel) about South by Southwest (SXSW) conferences and festivals. In one segment of the documentary, guests were acclaiming Austin, Texas’ city and atmosphere. I remember, one guy said, “Austin is like a city of artist around this time…” Although the event passed, it’s a great event to mark in your datebooks for 2010.
More info on SXSW Conferences and Festivals here
“In its 22 years, SXSW has grown from a tiny music festival in the Texas capital into a massive, unavoidable media beast that reflects, discusses and showcases trends in culture and media but also often creates them.” National Post, 3/13/08
Mike Mac x NYC Red

It’s 11:21 pm right now and I’m really not doing anything! It’s the first time in about a week – week and half, where I can afford to kill time. Key word, afford! At least I think. Anyway, I just was just pleasantly surprised. Mike Mac, a musician and illustrator, wanted me to critique a project. The project happened to be an illustrated portrait of me. I’m definitely digging the piece. I might do something else to it, not to redesign his work, but to force a collab.
I’m the subject of another designers work – feels good to know your hard work is recognized.
Check out his work on Flickr here

Be on the lookout for a NYC Red x Mike Mac collaboration!
April Showers

For some reason, I got the idea to take a couple pictures of the same spot at different times in the day. I was looking out my bathroom window and I just ran to get my camera. The pictures didn’t come out the way I saw it from my window, but it’s whatever. Essentially, I wanted to capture the leaves budding, which the pictures seem to do effectively. So it works! I think the water droplets in the third picture looks like shinning crystals. That’s just me.
Enjoi!

Neo-Contemporary Appeal

Bizy Dreaming is taking on a new font look to keep up with the most recent changes; the logo slightly changed so it makes sense for the typeface to change. I could be wrong, who’s to say I am or am not, but I feel like the entire Bizy Dreaming design is looking more neo-contemporary in each design. Feel free to contest that statement.
I like neo-contemporary!

Video: Gibberish
Gibberish, by Ryan Leslie of his self-titled album Ryan Leslie. I watch this video and marvel over the dedication and work put into his music. I’m an artist as well, not music, however I dedicate myself to each design. I research, look at old & new designs, watch and read tutorials or I try to conjure up from experience a concept to base the design off of. It’s easy to see that R Les had/has fun in the studio, and you can hear it in his music. He dichotomizes work and play all in the same setting, the studio. Ryan Leslie did a great job on the song, one of my top picks, and on the album.

Our 44th President
Barack Obama, (Artist: Concep)
Since we’re on the topic of the new administration I thought it’d be nice to see an illustration of Barack Obama by one of my favorite and/or admired artist, Concep.
(SUR)REALxBizy Dreaming
It just dawned on me to try a variation with the Bizy Dreaming logo and the Keep It Surreal lips. Good design… Yay? Or Nay?
Keep it (SUR)REAL
Keep It Surreal, Red 2008
I Don’t know if you have noticed on the top, it would say D.R.E.A.MxNYC. Well, D.R.E.A.MxNYC is mine, I mean, it was the beginning stage of my campaign. After D.R.E.A.MxNYC, I went further with the whole idea of dreaming etc. Bizy Dreaming came along after, and “Keep It Surreal” is the philosophy I like to follow.
Keep It Surreal will be one of the first designs for Bizy Dreaming prints – hopefully, if things work smoothly, there will be some variations to the Keep It Surreal design. I did the original design in December ’08 – which is probably the reason why I almost forgot to share with you all.
Keep It Surreal!
