Best Desserts: Bizy Dream’n x The Lamp NYC
Just recently I’d been working on a flyer design for The Lamp, a non-profit organization creating a movement to reform and improve media, & Always Order Dessert for Best Desserts at Double Windsor Bar. On June 9th New York City’s hottest food bloggers go at it in a dessert contest before a panel of celebrity judges…and you!
I’d been putting it off for a couple of days, you know how I do. Nevertheless, I everything was as promised – they approved. Chilly. I was going for a retro diner look with the typography. I wanted it to be homey, tasteful. If you look at the design, I kinda stole from Jim Jarmusch’s, a memo to a friend, layout +post. I really enjoyed that friendly feeling I got from it and I just wanted to use it. I’m a little hype about this because exposure is exposure, good or bad, people will know of you. In this case, it’s definitely good exposure.
Support The Lamp, hope to see y’all there.

Elements of Fashion
Remember when I said I was on the hunt for fashion show flyers +I was designing a layout for BSU.. Well this ended up to what I submitted. I hardly had any direction or specification on what should be included. The theme for the night is elements – Elements of Fashion – water, earth, wind +fire. I wasn’t satisfied with the top typography but I was pressed for time, and other things were happening at the same time.
Alright Gucci
DJ JAYCEEOH PRRESENTS: AVANT-GUCCI threw me so off when I spotted it. It’s a completely different mixtape cover I expected to see – from anybody. The cover took me back to Design History, I was thinking it could have been inspired by the cubist movement or African art. Anyway, the design is fitting and it kinda looks like Gucci, haha. It also reminded me of some African masks I was looking at a couple days ago..

Color Theory: Quick Reference Sheet for Designers
I found this stumbling. This is a great reference to refer to when designing or creating color pallets and I thought I’d share. I think it’d be cool as a large print out in your room, studio, or wherever your workstation is. There are also color picker / color theory programs available for purchase, however I sometimes use plain ‘ole color wheels, which may seem a little archaic, and other times I use Adobe Kuler.
Simple blends
I’ve been work’n on a fashion show flyer that sent me on a hunt for design inspiration. I always liked the concept that less is more, with that said, I didn’t want to alter the images too much. Blending options, that are sometimes overlooked, doesn’t do much alteration to the image but can take you along way. Simple blends with lower layers does just enough for me. If you really know what you’re doing mixing it with layer masks can take you over the top. Here’s some layouts I found with SIMPLE blending options. Blending options are found on the right in the layers pallet just above your layers.
I’m a big fan of the “A Toast to Pace” design. I’ve had it on my desktop for a while, I’d always go back to just look at it. Jus’ stare at it – it feels so off but still weighs out evenly on all ends
Graphic Design: Bizy Dreaming logo (revived)
I’ve been working on my resume to try to get everything back in order. Your resume is a reflection of you and I was looking really lazy and not capable of taking on any jobs. The original Bizy Dreaming logo didn’t last for long with me, I guess it wasn’t that good of a logo. As I was working on my resume I really wanted to add a piece of me in there and Bizy Dreaming is something I conceived, I toiled and try to endure, so I changed the logo from something stiff to something with more character. Y’all like?
