Adrien is a graphic designer. I spotted this on Kanye’s blog; I love the composition + the contrasting colors. White x Black x Magenta looks mean on the screen.

After The Storm

After work on Friday, on my way home, I tried to conceptualize new ideas from old ideas and designs, and some ideas to put on paper as well. I’ve been thinking about mixing medias, using P R I S M A C O L O R markers and watercolours to get the start of a new look-book. Anyway, after the storm, around sunset, the sky was beautiful. It was maybe sepia toned. I wish I got the shot somewhere else, but my room window sufficed, and was convenient. I had to lower the aperature on my camera to get the color and the silhouette. I like the urban feel, the color looks great. I definitely need a Nikon.

NYC Skate Weekend’09

S0172251

Check out some cool pics I took while I was at the 5Boro’s “Back to the Banks” skate jam. My brother called me, while he was at a closing ceremony for our elementary school which he’s been volunteering at, and told me come into the city with my camera. It was totally unexpected, but a cool experience and worth the trip. NYC Skate Weekend went on from June 4th – June 7th.

Lee Jaffe Photographs Basquiat

jaffe1-500x735

Lee Jaffe photographs the legendary Jean Michel-Basquiat painting in Jamaica. Basquiat gained popularity first as a graffiti artist in New York City, and then as a successful 1980s-era Neo-expressionist artist. In 1977, when he was 17, Basquiat started spray painting graffiti on slum buildings in lower Manhattan, adding his signature/tag of “SAMO” or “SAMO shit”(same ol’ shit). (This is where I got the tag idea from). You can also visit Lee Jaffe’s site here.

Bizy Dreaming x Montage 2009

montage

You haven’t seen one of these headline’s in awhile, Bizy Dreaming x “you”, or Bizy Dreaming x anyone else for that matter. I gave you an heads up a while back, that I’d be featured in a school publication, a publication, nevertheless. Anyway, it has arrived!!! I didn’t get what I wanted to be published, but I got something worthy of credit, so I’m excited about that. Next year, we are going for something better. I have a 3/4 page on page 18 for digital photography, check me out! This year’s edition of Montage is surprisingly far better than last year’s copy because more artists decided to step up. I have a few extra copies left from the ones I gave out, send me an email and we can work something out. Very limited copies!

Just another variation of the first set I did, or we can even say a more completed version. I decided to add some type to, I guess, convey a message. I love type design, typography. I always here, “make type make meaning,” with that said: what does it mean to you? Or do you even like it?

Spring Concert: Waking The Giant pt.2

Like I said in the first article, which I probably didn’t clarify, I volunteered to help setup for the Spring Concert ’09 at my school, HELLO, GOODBYE and LUDACRIS. I really volunteered hoping to meet Ludacris backstage, maybe a new follower? I Tried. But it was cool though, the stage came out great, I got free food – my meal plan is low, and met some new people.

April Showers pt.2

Remember, in the last article labeled April Showers, Igot the idea to take pictures out my bathroom window. Well, I did the same thing on another rainy day. Yesterday, April 21st. By the way, today is Earth Day. Happy Earth Day! I took the photographs around the same time as the first time to get the same lighting. The leaves are almost or even fully grown in just two weeks later. April Showers!

So I helped out the Student Government Association (SGA) E-Board/ the Student Center load-in and setup the stage for the Spring Concert, “Waking the Giant.” Thursday, April 16th, the first night we got started, we put together the entire stage; Friday, we setup the audio and lights. I also took a few photographs up at TD Bank North Sports Center.

Wake The Giant

This week and weekend was a little hectic; I didn’t get what I need accomplished along with other miscellaneous things. However, I hiked Sleeping Giant, embedded the design on Musiq’s Myspace Music page, helped setup the stage for the Spring concert(article coming soon), met a friend, and chilled with the homies. Sounds good! This week, I was a little more “Earthy,” I hiked the mountain, and played on the field all day; I have this slight phobia of standing on grass, anything other than concrete cement for that matter. Anyway, I enjoyed the weather and good company.

Something Musiq

onmyradio_nycred

Like I said in the previous post, these past two days has been a waste. SAMO $hit. Everyday, it’s the same ol’ shit, which may be contributing to my melancholy disposition. It’s not major; I’m just feeling unproductive and seeing no direction. Today, since class was canceled, I just had to get out the room and do something. This is the result of something, Musiq Soulchild; I got the photo from his myspace musiq page.

I showed the pics to a couple of people before I published the article, Sade said I should send it to him; so I think I’m going to leave the pictures as a comment on his myspace page, he might see it.

Mike Mac x NYC Red

portrait_x_mike-mac

It’s 11:21 pm right now and I’m really not doing anything! It’s the first time in about a week – week and half, where I can afford to kill time. Key word, afford! At least I think. Anyway, I just was just pleasantly surprised. Mike Mac, a musician and illustrator, wanted me to critique a project. The project happened to be an illustrated portrait of me. I’m definitely digging the piece. I might do something else to it, not to redesign his work, but to force a collab.

I’m the subject of another designers work – feels good to know your hard work is recognized.

Check out his work on Flickr here

Be on the lookout for a NYC Red x Mike Mac collaboration!

For some reason, I got the idea to take a couple pictures of the same spot at different times in the day. I was looking out my bathroom window and I just ran to get my camera. The pictures didn’t come out the way I saw it from my window, but it’s whatever. Essentially, I wanted to capture the leaves budding, which the pictures seem to do effectively. So it works! I think the water droplets in the third picture looks like shinning crystals. That’s just me.

Good Eats!

chicken-tortilla

chicken-tortilla_2Chicken Tortilla Bread Bowl Soup

Lunch at Panera Bread, good eats! The Chicken Tortilla bread bowl soup was delicious – very filling on the consumers end, worker-friendly/work efficient on the workers end, and eco-friendly, if you want to take it that far. After you finish your soup, you can eat the bread bowl as well. Less work for the workers, crafty.

Overwhelmed by After Effects

For the past couple of days I’ve been struggling to overcome a fever and complete a 30 second animation, carnival themed, in After Effects. I told my mother my situation, she tried to relate and give me her best advice possible; I’m content. The weekend has felt long and overwhelming, however, I wish I had more time to get some work done. There is a weather-watch for an oncoming snow storm, hopefully classes are canceled tomorrow and I can work on my animation.

Thank you Momma
