This is the second project I’ve done for Presidential Society. I’m just a music junkie and I always enjoy the opportunity to be around musicians. The last event, I Wanna Rock | NYC Underground Event was live, you missed out on some great performances and a chance to see NYC underground talent.
Pod Play: Red Cafe – Heart & Soul Of New York City
Brooklyn! WE DID IT… That’s how I feel when I hear a song like this from a Brooklyn artist. Jay was killing them with Empire State of Mind, and Red Cafe gives you Heart & Soul of New York City. Dunkers Delight in Wingate, what’s good? K1X added visuals to the Pete Rock produced song. Lyrics aside, I feel this way about anybody with a grind hard, keep grinding mentality coming out of Brooklyn. New York City, keep doing it!
BSKY comes back re-invented
Wednesday July 28th was the official re-opening featuring Brooklyn’s own legendary DJ Clark Kent. Alot of the supporters were out in full numbers, and some of our favorite hometown heroes were also in the building as usual (Heavy Hitter Shortman Movements, Tek from Smiff and Wesson, Haitian V, and Dapa Flex). Bsky not only opened with a new look, it was a whole new feel, and also a new line of smooth new shirts.

NewYorkCity Red… Come Up
For awhile I been front’n on my work, not really designing too much. I guess it was something like designers block [equivalent to writer's block]. I don’t want to say much about what I’ve been doing, but I’ve been going in and out of little creative spurts. If you never had a designer’s block, it’s going to happen, and if not kudos. The team I’m runn’n with got me on my toes, so jus’ keep an eye out for me in the cut. Shout out to my man Stan on the photo.
Brooklyn Bandit Fall/Winter 2010
I told y’all busters I’m living in the best borough..
Brooklyn Bandit has earned respect for their unique denim designs and incredible fitting selection. As the fall/winter season approaches us, the brand is ready to take the stage and release five new styles of jeans and three trendsetting button-downs.
Fake Dragon
I been operating last minute lately, and lately it’s been good. I got to grab a bite with some friends from school – I lied and said I’ll put them up – they know who they are though. We ate, walked the promenade, around DUMBO, and back to EHS housing. Today was a good day. Laidback.
ABSOLUT’ x Spike Lee
ABSOLUT gets together with Spike Lee to design their latest limited edition vodka bottle – ABSOLUT Brooklyn.
“The bottle features a depiction of a brownstone with the number from Lee’s childhood home in Cobble Hill and bears his name on the bottle. Inside the bottle is a vodka flavored with apple and ginger. It has a retail price of $29.99 . Each of the city editions of Absolut has a charitable initiative attached, as part of this campaign Absolut is donating $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity to help fund an affordable homes project in Bedford-Stuyvesant.”
Church Ave.
I went to Stella’s Bar & Restaurant in the city to watch the game. Good beer and good eats, great combo. I wish I would have taken a picture. However, that’s not what I wanted to discuss. The mosaic murals on Church avenue are just example of great art throughout the city. In a melting pot like New York City, I’m glad you can find a little culture outside of the hustle and bustle. I’m always looking for culture – this is home.
Contradictory Agenda
Brooklyn based designers David Heasty and Stefanie Weigler (of Triboro Design) have created a New York City subway map printed in all florescent red. Simple huh? The redesigned map strips away the color-coded system while maintaining its functionality. Single color information design. Impressive!
The map embraces a dual (and seemingly contradictory) agenda, “offering practical and aesthetic improvements to the existing subway map while simultaneously subverting these improvements through the absurd adherence to a single color,” Heasty adds. “In this way the map reflects the often contradictory experience of New York City, the rigid systems and grids constantly interrupted by the unpredictable realities of a metropolis, the intermingling forces of order and chaos, and the city’s visual communications frequent inability to make sense of it all.”

Video: How to Make It in America x KiD CuDi
“How to Make It in America follows two enterprising Brooklyn twentysomethings as they hustle their way through New York City, determined to achieve the American Dream. Trying to make a name for themselves in New York’s competitive fashion scene, Ben Epstein (Greenberg) and his friend and business partner Cam Calderon (Rasuk) use their street knowledge and connections to bring their ambitions to fruition. With the help of Cam’s cousin Rene (Guzman), who is trying to market his own high-energy drink, and their well-connected friend Domingo (“Kid Cudi”), the burgeoning entrepreneurs set out to make it big, encountering obstacles along the way that will require all their ingenuity to overcome”.
“How to Make It in America,” HBO’s new dollar and a dream series premieres February 14. I don’t know too much about the film, but a story about struggle, ambition, and determination plotted in Brooklyn, NY gains my attention and anticipation for something exciting.

Worker’s Comp.
I work at Brooklyn warehouse when I’m home for the semester breaks – every morning me and mass of other men wait to be called for work. Every morning 6:30 am. You could even say it’s an example of institutionalization. I see this every morning.
Josiah Venter x Bar4 Brooklyn
I hope all of you have been enjoying these beautiful and surprisingly warm, autumn days. I imagine most of you are heading out of town for Thanksgiving but for those of you staying here, or for those still undecided, perhaps an evening of music in Brooklyn with Josiah persuades you to stay and better yet, come out and celebrate.
