Video: Off The Wall NY x D’Face

I’ve stumbled across those wings on a Basquait painting. I loved it! But I never knew the artist. And of course it stood out, it’s on Basquiat filled with vibrant colors that poured out his wild style. When you scan the canvas and bring your eyes up, right out the ears are two wings. It’s similar to what Warhol did during the Pop movement, he took popular people or things and recreated them – his most popular ones, Madonna or the Campbell’s Soup. Instead, street artist might recreate an iconic symbol with their motif tagged on it. Kaws puts his mark on everything, most recently Tweety Bird.

Video: Let’s Colour Project – Walls Are Dancing

House music everyday is getting more and more popular, and going mainstream with the help of the MTV 2010 VMA’s. Dead Mau5 DJ booth was something I’ve never seen before. I know my boy Nick will appreciate this post for the music, as well as the vibrant colors in the project. In Let’s Colour Project, editing really makes the wall dance to the beat. The music is by Monsieur Monsieur, another source to look up for new music.

Start of the semester

Something I quickly put together for my typography class. It reflects just what it says, it’s calm.

Os Gemeos x Blu, Lisbon

The bloated corporate figure sucking the world dry is very relevant to date. Definitely something to see in Lisbon/Portugal.

Mr. Brainwash Experience x NYSF

video by NY Straightforward, much love to these guys!

Quick Shot x NYSF

I always been a fan of NYSF Photography. They’re definitely BIG at what they do and they happen to capture moments of life beautifully. Soho never looked better – the lighting in this photo is dope. Shout outs to Maine and Nell at NYSF.

Creative Device for Paralyzed Artists

We have all heard tales of paralyzed or partially paralyzed artists and creative minds who continue to produce provocative work with toes or limited physical capabilities as best as they can. The EyeWriter is a low-cost device which includes a DIY hardware and free software that allows artists to draw with their eyes. The EyeWriter has been created by GRL and the FAT Lab in collaboration with graffiti writer and ALS sufferer, Tempt One.

Please check out the inspiration video of Tempt One using the first prototype of The EyeWriter, and vote to celebrate the tenacity of the creative mind in face of adversity online at Pepsi Refresh after the jump.

Japanese Artist Haroshi Recycles Old Skateboards

Haroshi goes through thousands of old broken skateboard decks for wood to use in creating his lifelike sculptures. Haroshi likes to give each piece “a soul.” Once he picks the material he stacks them on top of each other, cuts them down to size, shaves off the excess debris and paints them. As he is constructing it he puts a piece of the broken bearings in the center, the heart of his work. The final product is then coated with a glossy finish. Props to Mike Hersh for the ill find.

More photos of his work after the jump.

There will be two bottles, each designed by Kaws, one Lager bottle and one Amber bottle. The limited edition bottle will only be available in Mexico.
