MSR Concep 1.2

Love the color pallette. the grunge is a bit too heavy. Can I see it without the grunge? I like the line on the bottom with the grunge distressed look

MSR Concep 1.1

I found this neat social media site for freelance designers where buyers//potential clients post a project which needs to be done & designers can respond to the job with a submission. Yes, you can get money for your work. However, your designs needs to be selected.

I found a good one just to get my feet wet as a freelance designer. I’m working on a logo for a radio personality. From my understanding of the creative brief the buyer wants cool and hip. I wanted to use bright, cool colors and keep it simple. Some of the best logos are simplest, e.i: American Airlines, American Apparel.

They were very tough on likeness on my design.

Not edgy enough. Do not like the color palette at all. The microphone is boring and predictable. The M to the S makes it look like a 6.

Ye JUNYA WATANABE COMME des GARCONS

I like the pin-stripes on the vest, very nautical. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but this clothing line is very eclectic-styled, by that I mean, the designer mixes different styles & textures to make it its own. DOPE!

I missed the first episode of season six because I was coming back from the beach on Sunday. Ugh, fml! I was hoping to catch the re-run on Monday @7pm, but no luck. Monday’s episode was from Season 4, I believe. Anyway, catch Entourage on Sunday’s at 10:30

Creativity 100

After making 35 stops in downtown Brooklyn, on my way home from work, I picked up this Graphic Design book by Mark Oldach for $8. Creativity for Graphic Designers has a neat presentation and appears to be one of those sophistacted books you find at your school bookstore. I haven’t read pasted the panel and the contents page, but from my understanding it’s aimmed to help you create and develop fresh ideas, and keep those ideas flowing project after project. Let’s hope it’s not one of those cliche books.

‘In the Zone’

kill-distractionHow often do we deviate from our work when our mind’s wander? When I was doing my internship at Response, almost every hour, especially times when I felt stuck, I found myself checking email, and all my social media accounts. Distractions are inevitable at work and throws a wrench in your work flow, or as Curtis McHale describes it, “The Zone.” I stumbled across this article by Curtis McHale and I figured it be best to pass it on, being that you probably are killing your work flow right now (if your working) reading this.

The zone is that place where things flow. Birds fly music plays. It’s cheesy, cliche and sometimes hard to come by. Really the zone is where we need to be regularly to get things done. For many of us the zone only sometimes shows its head. We struggle to find it. Love it when it happens and lament when we can’t find it.

It’s kind of like the ‘killing zone’ in the movie Wanted. You start off with it just happening and you have no control. Over time you learn how it works for you and grab the shuttle from the loom. Then you become a master.

J. Cole – The Warm Up

JCole-Warm-Up-1-Front

J. Cole & Dreamville Records presents The Warm Up. It’s a relief to know there is still good musiq to be discovered for the future sake of hip hop. The content is different from the cliche, “I tote guns, etc.” J. Cole illustrates his story through the use of lyricism and slick wordplay. After I bumped The Warm Up, I could relate to more of Cole’s rhymes. Seriously this is one of the best pieces of musiq I’ve heard from a new artist in quite some time! What’s so unique about J. Cole’s story to me, is that throughout the mixtape he said, “I thought I wouldn’t even finish college; I’d get a deal my first year.” And he continued to say, “I graduated, got more focused, and everything started to fall into place.” Watch out for this dude!
