Jupiter Brass

j416s_lgJupiter 416 Pocket Trumpet (Silver), $679.00

More and more people are wanting and/or playing instruments, at least from what I hear in conversations, some of the more popular ones being, the piano and keyboard, the drums, and the guitar. I hardly ever hear anyone talking about any of the brass instruments. Well, I think I’ll be the first. I played the trumpet in maybe 5th or 6th grade, but I stopped and switched to the drums (I was definitely worse at the drums than the trumpet). I’m feeling inclined to shop for a trumpet. I’ve always wanted to be more connected with music s an art, will this be a new hobby?

Generic Man

generic-surplus-military-hi-top-420jpgGeneric Surplus Military Hi-top, $70

Something about these militaryesque sneakers that I’m liking! Probably because everything is looking so customary with Nike and Levi’s, and Prada/Gucci and Rock & Republic’s. Not only are these sophisticated, it’s only one color. A lot of these more commonplace sneakers are multi-colored limiting it’s versatility. Generic Surplus managed to take advantage of the single-colored design.

Video: Gibberish

Gibberish, by Ryan Leslie of his self-titled album Ryan Leslie. I watch this video and marvel over the dedication and work put into his music. I’m an artist as well, not music, however I dedicate myself to each design. I research, look at old & new designs, watch and read tutorials or I try to conjure up from experience a concept to base the design off of. It’s easy to see that R Les had/has fun in the studio, and you can hear it in his music. He dichotomizes work and play all in the same setting, the studio. Ryan Leslie did a great job on the song, one of my top picks, and on the album.

At The Studio

response-2

Another day at studio, and things are still looking good, I guess. I’ve been been get work done, doing different things, and learning everything possible. Sound good.

What’s on my desk?

  1. Leopard, just upgraded from Tiger, installed on my desktop. (For those who don’t know, Tiger is another platform, version (I think), of OS X. There is Mac OS X Tiger and the newest version is Mac OS X Leopard. Or Mac OS X Leopard vs. Windows Vista. Ha!
  2. A PANTONE solid chips: coated – gotta have my colors right. It happened to be on my desk this week, so I kept it – it’s still at work, but. There was like six or seven just laying down in the shelves anyway.
  3. A Complex magazine, with Lupe on the cover. I had that there since September, maybe? And of course, my work posted on the wall.

Soon enough a job in this environment will be permanent. The element is real lax and you could just fall in your own element. Just some pictures taken throughout the day. My desk and the shared office.

Video: Drinking Out of Cups

Too funny! Also, you can credit the authors for the animation, that illustrates the voice-over. I am taking 3D and have taken 2D animation, and this is a pretty good animation, better than some animations I’ve done, however, I’m not saying I’m any better or worse at it. Enjoy!

Yaris| fresh kicks

yariskicks

Toyota is coming up with some neo contemporary ads for the Yaris, this being a little more eye-opening. Toyota seems to be trying to reach younger demographics with this ad, comparing the Yaris to some fresh kicks is more of a younger generations interest. The 2009 Toyota Yaris lineup gains a 4-door hatchback body style; it’s offered as a 2- or 4-door hatchback or 4-door sedan. A little upgrade from the 2008 Yaris which was available as a spunky three-door hatchback coupe. Toyota has capitalized on the Yaris’ new-found popularity by adding an additional trim to its lineup.

Smile for Me!

fuji_rec

Just recently I purchased a FUJIFILM S2000HD digital camera from Circuit City – best choice I’ve made all week. (That’s kind of bad). Anyway, I’ve been taking pictures since I got it. That’s how it’s going to be for a while; I hope you don’t get tired of seeing several pictures a week.

This being my “first camera,” I have to get acquainted with the adjustments, different camera modes, and settings. I will have more time to mess around with the camera since the sun is out a little longer and hopefully it will be getting warmer soon.

Just smile for me!

MoMA Atlantic/Pacific pt.2

atlantic_pacific

More pictures of the MoMA Atlantic/Pacific Street art outside the museums walls. By the way, I’m in this train station almost everyday to get home. That means I get to see these replications, almost everyday, FOR FREE!

Conceived by Doug Jaeger, founder of thehappycorp, the purpose of the underground campaign is to create a greater awareness of the MoMA collection housed at their Midtown location. For casual passersby, signs posted at payphones throughout the station instruct on how to dial the toll-free MoMA factline for audio information about the works, but planners can download the full audio commentary to iPods, making it that much easier to get a little cultured. In addition to the audio features, a customized project website includes a map and guide to the artworks.

Oscar and Jack

dots1

Oscar and Jack has nothing to do with this post, besides the fact that this was done during my Sociology 101 class. Oscar and Jack is the story that coincides with the debate of nature versus nurture; a big topic in sociology. However, this post I just a display of another design I did today. Just playing around with colors, shape, and repetition. And this is a nice pantone and/or a good color library to have. Make color libraries; it’s a good resource to fall on. Here it’s!

Sunny Day

248814708741

The sun happen to be shining on me today, not metaphorically. It was literally shining on me at my top seat in a gourmet deli in downtown New Haven. I was in a little reflective state, while eating “gourmet” fruits. While I was sitting, I was telling myself I can’t live trying to change the inevitable, so keep it moving. All I could do is change myself. I’m trying to grow into the person my “mammi” raised me to be. Despite the sagging pants sometimes; eventually mommy, eventually!

Life Is A Song, Love The Musiq

248813788421

Life is a song, love the musiq. If life is a song, then play good musiq. That seems logical, right? Inspiration, in my case, art, definitely moves you. At this moment, I’m just trying to keep good musiq in my tape deck – I’m just trying to mind my own and do art. Keep It Surreal!

  1. Notorious B.I.G Feat. 112 – Sky’s The Limit
  2. Tupac – Keep Your Head Up
  3. Lyfe Jennings – Warriors
  4. Musiq Soulchild Feat. Damien Marley- Iwannabe
  5. Musiq Soulchild – B.U.D.D.Y
  6. John Legend Feat. Andre 3000- Green Light

No Label

watchside1No Label Digital Watch, $50

I don’t know what’s the “rave” about these G-Shock watches, is it because Pharell wore it? Right! I think No Label is better by a landslide (visuals/relating to design, I mean). The design is very sleek and contemporary, slightly reserved, but still fly. You could find this at Vinnies.
